About Wind Energy

Wind power is a clean, safe and renewable source of electricity.

Over the years, various designs have been used to generate wind power. In North America, most new installations use upwind-facing, three-blade, horizontal axis technology.

Ontario’s wind resource varies greatly by area and by location within any area. For this reason, companies developing wind energy typically collect wind data over several years from multiple metrological towers installed on a proposed site. Projected wind availability from the collected data is used to estimate the profitability of the proposed wind farm project and to position the turbines on the site.
